Explore Your Personal Myths | What’s Happening at Poised to Leap

June’s Theme: Archetype

The word of the month is Archetype. In today’s blog post, we explore the many archetypes we embody in our everyday lives. We are parents, children, creators, employees, bosses, and friends, and wear many other hats in our lives. We also employ stories that are on a repeat reel in our minds about who are and our place in the world.

We all have myths that we live by. These are the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, what we’re capable of, and what our place in the world is. Some of these myths are helpful and empowering, while others can be limiting and self-destructive. Can you think of myths you tell yourself? Are they negative or positive?

What is the origin of a particular myth you tell yourself? Take time to explore what they are so you can embrace the uplifting ones while releasing the ones that do not serve your highest good.

How to Explore Your Personal Myths

There are many ways to explore your personal myths. Here are a few suggestions:

▪️Readings: Look at the various archetypes you hold about yourself and ask whether they are helping or hurting your overall well-being. You can use an Oracle or Tarot deck.

▪️Journaling: Writing about your thoughts and feelings can help you to identify your personal myths.

▪️Meditation: Meditation can help you to quiet your mind and connect with your inner wisdom.

▪️Dreamwork: Dreams can offer insights into your personal myths.

▪️Therapy: A therapist can help you to explore your personal myths and develop healthier ways of thinking.

Benefits of Exploring Your Personal Myths

There are many benefits to exploring your personal myths. Here are a few:

▪️Increased self-awareness: Exploring your personal myths can help you to become more aware of who you are and what you want out of life.

▪️Greater self-acceptance: Exploring your personal myths can help you to accept yourself for who you are, flaws and all.

▪️More fulfilling relationships: Exploring your personal myths can help you build more fulfilling relationships with others.

▪️A more meaningful life: Exploring your personal myths can help you to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Our personal myths have a powerful impact on our lives. By exploring our personal myths, we can gain greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and fulfillment.

Some Relationships Are Only for a Season | What’s Happening at Poised to Leap

April’s Theme: Release

In the tapestry of life, we encounter a myriad of relationships, each one unique and significant in its own way. While some relationships endure the test of time, forming lifelong bonds, others are destined to be temporary, lasting only for a season.

It can be both bittersweet and challenging to recognize that certain relationships are meant to be temporary. We may invest our hearts and souls into these connections, only to find that circumstances change and our paths diverge. However, embracing the impermanence of some relationships can bring about valuable lessons and growth.

Some of the following Tarot cards I associate with moving on from relationships:

The Hermit, Death, Tower, the World, 6 of Swords, and 8 of Cups. What Tarot cards do you associate with moving on from some relationships or situations that have entered a new season for you? What happens when there is resistance to staying in a relationship (platonic, professional, or romantic) or situation? When the above cards are in reverse, we can see how the resistance plays out. For example, the Death card in reverse is about a fear of letting go, which causes greater pain than if acceptance of the needed change happened sooner than later.

Here are a few reasons why some relationships are only for a season:

1. Different Life Stages: As we journey through life, our needs, goals, and priorities evolve. Sometimes, relationships that were once deeply fulfilling may no longer align with our current stage of life. This can lead to a natural drifting apart as individuals pursue different paths. When I first moved to the Dominican Republic, I quickly made friends with expats from my home country. But, after several months, it became clear some of my new friends were in different life stages than myself and I accepted the fact they were in my life for the season when I first moved to a new country and needed familiarity with the people around me. I also had less in common with my 9-5 friends than the new adventurous or entrepreneurial people I was meeting abroad.

2. Geographical Distance: Life circumstances, such as job relocations or family obligations, can create physical distance between friends or romantic partners. While technology can help bridge the gap, maintaining close relationships over long distances can be challenging and may eventually lead to separation. After moving to the DR, I began to lose contact with friends and relatives that were once a part of my everyday life. There was a bit of sadness about letting some relationships go, but I have no regrets about moving abroad.

3. Changing Values and Beliefs: Over time, our values, beliefs, and perspectives may shift, leading to a divergence in our fundamental compatibility with others. While it’s possible to navigate these changes together, sometimes it’s necessary to acknowledge that we’ve grown apart and move on. A good friend and colleague moved to Oklahoma and it felt like she was a world away from California. She now attended church, and rodeos, and began to adopt more conservative views than what she once held when she was in California. I began to distance myself because we had less in common and truthfully, Initially, I forced myself to keep up the friendship. Over time, I didn’t feel like bending too much to continue on in this relationship. I happen to have friends who enjoy church, but it was her changing beliefs that rubbed against mine that no longer fit for me and I had to be honest with myself about that. She, nor I did anything wrong – we just grew apart due to our changing values and beliefs.

4. Unresolved Conflicts: Some relationships are plagued by unresolved conflicts or a lack of effective communication. Despite efforts to address these issues, it may become apparent that the relationship is no longer conducive to personal growth and well-being. Letting go of such relationships can be a painful but necessary step. I have found some relationships need to be released to allow each participant a chance to grow. And, maybe from a more healed place, the relationship will have a chance to reconcile and be stronger than it was.

5. Life Lessons: Some relationships serve as temporary catalysts for personal growth and learning. They may come into our lives to teach us valuable lessons, help us develop certain skills, or provide us with the support we need during a specific phase of our journey. Once these lessons have been learned, the relationship may naturally come to an end. When I was a newly single mom, I formed bonds with other single working mommas. As our kids grew older, most of my friends from this group moved on. Yes, we check on each other from time to time on social media, but that season of our life has passed as most of our kids are grown.

It’s important to honor the temporary nature of some relationships while also cherishing the time spent together. Every connection, no matter how brief, leaves an imprint on our hearts and contributes to the richness of our lives.

Here are a few tips for navigating the end of a seasonal relationship:

🔮Practice Gratitude: Instead of dwelling on the loss, focus on the positive aspects of the relationship and the lessons learned. Express gratitude for the time shared and the impact the other person had on your life.

🔮Allow Yourself to Grieve: It’s natural to feel sadness, anger, or disappointment when a relationship ends. Allow yourself to grieve the loss and process your emotions healthily.

🔮Maintain Boundaries: If necessary, establish clear boundaries to protect your emotional well-being. This may involve limiting contact or avoiding situations where you might encounter the other person.

🔮Seek Support: Reach out to trusted friends, family members, or a therapist for support during this transition. Talking about your feelings can help you heal and move forward. Poised to Leap can offer support and empower you during your times of transition.

🔮Focus on Self-Care: Prioritize self-care activities that nurture your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. I always encourage clients and Poised to Leap members to prioritize taking care of YOU, especially during times of transition in relationships or situations. Make a short list of your favorite go-to ways of self-care that you can give yourself with ease.

Remember, the ending of a seasonal relationship is not a failure but a natural part of life’s journey. Embrace the growth and transformation that comes with these experiences, and trust that the future holds new and meaningful connections.

Are you in a transitional phase in your life and need support and reassurance to help you on your journey? Consider joining Poised to Leap for one-on-one and group coaching.

Poised to Leap Weekly Blog Post: To be Sovereign in Your Life is to be Free of What No Longer Serves You

March’s Theme: Sovereignty

As the ruler and overseer of your life, you get to choose what stays and goes and what remains attached to you and your energy. We are experiencing a full moon eclipse in Aries on March 25, 2024. This is a great time to assess, detox, forgive, move on, and release. Are there relationships or situations that have continuously drained you, but you are not sure of how to move on from them?

Now is the time to get real about an exit strategy. You can start the process today by making a plan. Whether it is a dead-end job or relationship, or a home that you have outgrown, begin to plan your next chapter today. Perhaps you have a cluttered space that you have been meaning to tackle – let this be the week that you get started and intentionally clear the space.

Maybe you have been wanting to let go of some habits that you know are holding you back. Spend two to three minutes each day this week visualizing what it would be like in your life without the habit of having sovereignty in your life. Feel what it would be like for you to have new, positive, life-affirming habits in its place, focusing on how these new changes are beautifully impacting your life.

Here are some journal or card prompts to help you this week in reclaiming sovereignty in an area of your life:

1. Where in my life do I need to turn a page or start anew?

2. What do I need to change before I can commit to doing this?

3. Am I willing to do it this week? Why or why not?

Need help in getting started following through on a goal or eradicating a negative habit? Consider joining Poised to Leap

Sovereignty in Tarot Readings and Coaching Clients | What’s Happening at Poised to Leap

In the realm of spiritual entrepreneurship, it’s crucial to maintain sovereignty over your business and your life. In essence, you are the King or Queen of your business and what you say, goes. Sometimes clients will place a huge amount of blind faith and turn over their power to their coaches, counselors, or readers. It feels safer for them to relinquish their decision-making to someone else, but our work as healers is to illuminate their inner wisdom so they can build confidence in navigating their challenges.

In the context of coaching or mentoring others and Tarot readings, sovereignty translates into conducting readings that empower clients and promote their self-discovery, rather than fostering dependency on the reader or the coach.

Here are a few key principles to consider when practicing sovereignty in Tarot readings:

1. Respect Client Autonomy:

🪷Recognize that clients possess the wisdom and power to make their own decisions.

🪷Encourage clients to reflect on the cards and their interpretations, rather than solely relying on the reader’s guidance.

2. Focus on Empowerment:

🪷Use Tarot readings as a tool to empower clients, helping them uncover their inner strength and potential.

🪷Avoid creating a dynamic where clients become overly dependent on the reader for answers.

3. Promote Self-Reflection:

🪷Encourage clients to engage in self-reflection and introspection.

🪷Provide insights that stimulate clients’ critical thinking and personal growth.

4. Set Clear Boundaries:

🪷Establish clear boundaries regarding the scope and nature of your readings.

🪷Communicate your limitations and avoid taking on responsibilities beyond your expertise.

5. Practice Ethical Conduct:

🪷Uphold ethical standards by maintaining confidentiality, respecting client privacy, and avoiding exploitation.

🪷Refrain from making predictions or promises that cannot be guaranteed.

🪷If you do make predictions, be sure to express that nothing is set in stone and people are subjected to free will – thus there are no absolutes that can be predicted.

6. Foster a Collaborative Relationship:

🪷Approach readings as a collaborative process, where the client actively participates in interpreting the cards.

🪷Encourage clients to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

7. Support Client Growth:

🪷Aim to support clients in their personal growth journey.

🪷Provide guidance that helps clients establish their intuition and develop their own connection with the Tarot.

One of the books that I found very helpful on this topic that we deep-dived into last year as a part of Poised to Leap was The Ethical Psychic, by Dr. Jennifer Vest. This book is a must-have for the professional healer, as it helps you navigate the challenges and pitfalls that come with the territory of psychic healing. There are a total of six videos and Zoom replays devoted to this very topic in our Poised to Leap Video Repository.

Some of the topics featured in Poised to Leap:

➡️How to Become an Ethical Practitioner | The Ethical Psychic

➡️REPLAY-June Power Zoom Meeting | How to Become an Ethical Practitioner

➡️The Risks of Psychic Work | The Ethical Psychic

➡️REPLAY | May Power Zoom Meeting | The Traits of the Ethical Psychic

➡️The 6 Traits of an Ethical Psychic | Chapter One | Kim’s Take

Want to learn more on this topic or check out the Ko‑fi Repository? Consider joining Poised to Leap.

By practicing sovereignty in Tarot readings, you not only empower your clients but also establish a sustainable and fulfilling practice that respects the autonomy and dignity of those you serve.

What’s Happening at Poised to Leap

New beginnings are in the air as we march into the month of March! We will be meeting as a group for our Power Zoom meeting on Sunday, March 10, 2024. We now meet every other month for our Power Zoom meeting and it is a great time to catch up with each other and to discuss some important aspects of managing life and work in a supportive setting.

Meeting topic: Simplify Your Biz & Life | Check-In | Professional Readings | Hotlines Q&A + Share Successes

March’s Theme: Sovereignty

In the realm of spiritual entrepreneurship, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of running a business. But what if there was a way to simplify your spiritual-based business and reclaim your energy and your time? Are you doing tasks because “everyone else” is doing them?

What if you are feeling a heavy resistance to joining the latest social media platform – do you push through that feeling anyway? Or, do you honor where you are and resist the urge to follow the trends? There is no right or wrong answer because there are times when people are grateful they pushed through when they felt a lot of resistance. However, there is wisdom in resistance and it is always worth exploring why you feel it.

If you are a reader, you can pull a card and ask why you are feeling resistance towards a particular task. If you are a Poised to Leap member, I would be happy to pull a card for you to explore why there is resistance or to see what direction feels more aligned with what you are called to do. We can also explore what it looks like in your spiritual business or personal life to simplify and the steps to take to get there.

Why Simplify?

Simplifying your business and life can lead to several benefits, including:

▪️Reduced stress and anxiety

▪️Increased productivity

▪️More time for self-care and spiritual practices

▪️A greater sense of balance and fulfillment

How to Simplify

Here are a few tips for simplifying your spiritual-based or Tarot business:

1. Identify Your Core Offerings: What are the most important services you offer? Focus on these core offerings and let go of anything unessential.

2. Streamline Your Processes: Take a look at your current business processes and see where you can streamline them. This could involve automating tasks, hiring an assistant, or delegating tasks to others.

3. Set Boundaries: It’s important to set boundaries between your work and your personal life. This means setting specific work hours and not checking email or social media outside of those hours.

4. Take Breaks: Make sure to take regular breaks throughout the day. This will help you stay refreshed and focused. If you need a longer break, then take it. Honor the ebbs and flows of your life and recognize that breaks are essential to overall health and well-being in your personal or professional affairs.

5. Practice Self-Care: Self-care is essential for any spiritual entrepreneur. Make sure to take time for yourself each day to relax and rejuvenate. Make a list of your favorite self-care activities and calendar them so that you prioritize them in your daily and weekly schedule.

Simplifying your spiritual Tarot business can help you reclaim your energy and your time and exemplifies what it means to have sovereignty over your business and your life. By following these tips, you can create a sustainable and fulfilling business.

Working with Our Ancestors will be exploring Ancestral versus Past-Life work this week. There will be a video posted on March 5, 2024, along with exercises, prompts/spreads to work to deepen our spiritual practice surrounding those in the afterlife.

Consider joining Poised to Leap to work with me one on one or in a small group setting to learn and grow in Tarot.
