When the small crew set out on October 16, 1988, all seemed promising for an uneventful voyage from Fremantle to Queensland, Australia. The last radio call came in from Captain Ken Jones on November 8, 1988, and no one has seen or heard from him or the 3 other occupants of the Patanela. What happened? Were they hijacked? Did a ship or barge collide with their ship? Or did something else happen aboard the ship?
